Tot Hill Farms golf community is gaining recognition for its beautiful, demanding course and the luxurious homes that surround it.
Designed by famed course architect Mike Strantz, the course, which was recently ranked the 7th Hardest Course in America by Golf Digest, takes advantage of the area’s unique rock formations and picturesque creeks. “Strantz is a very abstract designer,” says Chad Clark, Tot Hill Farms staff golf professional. “It’s so tough because it is a visually intimidating course with rock outcroppings, trees, water hazards – it looks very deceptive because the ball’s landing area is often obscured.”
While no large tournaments are scheduled at Tot Hill Farms, many charity meets and corporate outings are held there.
“We have also hosted the Zoo Open and other local events,” Clark says. “We are a semi-private club, but we’re open for everyday play. The more golfers play here, the more they understand the course and they play it well.”
This picturesque course is nested on 367 acres of rolling countryside bounded on three sides by the Uwharrie Mountains, making it an excellent choice for golf and home building.
The golf community surrounding the course includes protected greenways, nature trails and amenities with upscale luxurious homes held to a high architectural standard.
“It’s not a gated community, but it is very elegantly done,” Clark says.
