asheboro municipal airport, aviation, culture, north carolina aviation museum and hall of fame,

The plane truth is that Asheboro is home to the North Carolina Aviation Museum and Hall of Fame.

The two-hangar museum is on the grounds of Asheboro Municipal Airport, with 15 vintage planes on display for the public to see.

The aircrafts date from World War II through the Vietnam era, and almost all of the planes can still fly.

Some of the models include a C-45, Cessna L-19 Bird Dog, Flitfire, Stearman and a Swiss P3. There is also a display of authentic military uniforms, medals and historic artifacts, and guided tours are available.
